Try the following link:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=147239 for the Chilton manual. A shop manual would explain the steps you need to go through to find out what is wrong.
Did you try to get a scan from the OBD? I have seen people say they had no Engine Light come on, which turned out to be a burnt bulb. And any code you do get may not be what is wrong. I once had a code for a bad O2 sensor. After a Google search, it turned out to be a vacuum leak. Replacing vacuum hose, $1.20; if I would have replaced the sensor $115.
